Answers to Questions You Have While Visiting a Mental Health Clinic
When you first consider seeking therapy, questions can race through your mind and keep you awake at night. It can be difficult to decide where to put them. You may be unsure of how to ask, and you may even be unsure of what you are asking.
We’ve compiled a comprehensive list of questions you might have when starting therapy. Though we strive to answer each as broadly as possible, it is important to consult with our therapist when you visit our mental health clinic.
Are A Therapist anda Mental Health Nurse the Same?
People who work in jobs that require them to talk to people who require mental health support and/or therapy come from a diverse range of backgrounds. Counseling, social work, nursing, mentoring, coaching, art therapy, music therapy, drama therapy, dance therapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, and other therapies may be included.
‘Therapist’ is used as a catch-all term in this context. If you stay in Dubai and you found us while searching for mental health therapist near me, we will help you connect with a specialist who can exclusively treat your case. We have multiple segments and specialist areas to deal with at Lifeworks Mental Health Clinic.
What If You Do Not Know What You Require?
Sometimes you might not know what you need; all you know is that something isn’t right. Being open with your therapist about it can help you understand where you are coming from, and as our therapist gets to know you, they should be able to help you untangle some of your issues. For example, if you are seeking professional depression treatment in Dubai our experts at Lifeworks are always available for you.
If People See You Walk intothe Building, Will They Know You Are Having Therapy?
Please keep in mind, that there is no shame in requiring assistance from a mental health clinic. It’s high time society stops believing in mental health taboos. It’s you who needs to accept that you need help first, only then our psychiatrists at Lifeworks can help you out.
However, if someone notices you and you are uncomfortable with them knowing that you are receiving therapy for some personal reason, you can always be very vague about it if they ask.
Can You Take Time Off Work to Attend Therapy?
This is dependent on your job. Some employers provide paid time off for medical appointments. Others will have a flextime policy where you can take the time you need but must make it up later.
Speaking with your HR department and requesting an occupational health appointment may help you learn more about your rights and what your employer may or may not be able to provide.
If you are finding it hard to take out time to visit us for the best depression treatment in Dubai, you can always call us to book a slot as per your holidays.
Do You Need to Lie Down on A Couch?
We’ve all seen movies where people walk into a therapist’s office (usually with dark wood paneling and a plethora of books) and immediately lie back on a ‘couch’ and pour their hearts out.
The reality is that you will most likely be sitting in a chair or engaged in an activity. There may be times when you are given the option to lie down, but most of the time, you are free to choose how you want to be while visiting us at Lifeworks clinic.
People Get Homework from Their Therapist. Are All Therapists Like This?
Sometimes therapy entails reflecting on, tracking, or attempting new things. Some people use worksheets, while others do not. It really depends on the type of therapy you are receiving and how your therapist works.
If this is something you are concerned about, you should consult with our therapist at LifeWorks mental health clinic.
How Do You Determine Which Therapy Is Best for You?
With so many different types of therapy available, it’s understandable that they’ll work differently for different people.
Some therapies are better suited to certain diagnoses than others. It can also be beneficial to discuss your options with our doctor or a potential therapist.
Sometimes you have a specific goal in mind that corresponds to a specific type of therapy. You need to talk to a therapist about this so that you get the right help. However, mostly the therapist you speak with will tell you which treatment will suit you the most.
Do You Have to Talk About Things You Would Prefer Not to Discuss?
No. Nobody can make you talk about something you don’t want to share. It can take a long time to feel comfortable discussing something. But keep in mind that if one of your goals for seeking therapy is to work toward discussing difficult topics, you may find it useful to inform your therapist that there is something you are not yet comfortable discussing but would like to do so. Every counseling professional at Lifeworks mental health clinic is sensible enough to handle things delicately. Feel free to visit www.lifeworks.ae to learn more.
If you would like to talk, feel free to reach out to us. An LifeWorks therapist would be able to help.
